Healthy Oreos?

Oreos are one of Americas favourite cookies! I’m not surprised by this statement at all. When I was a child and Oreos didn’t exist in Germany yet I would always bring loads of packages with me when I returned from a trip in the US. I created a much healthier option so you can still enjoy this popular treat without any sugar, gluten, histamine or lactose. This cookie might not taste exactly like the originals but they are super tasty and super easy to prepare. The only hard part is to stop at one. They are also packed with nourishing ingredients so I would choose these raw Oreo cookies over the original ones every day!

They are also the perfect energy boost on a busy schedule and are a really great recipe to prepare together with your kids. Instead of giving them cookies to school these raw Oreo cookies surely are a better choice. This is a great recipe to prepare over the weekend so you don’t have to worry about healthy snacks anymore for the rest of the week!

Would love to get your feedback so leave a comment below:)

Wishing you all a happy healthy day!

xx

Serves 12 cookies
Cooks in 15 Minutes
Difficulty Easy

INGREDIENTS

For the cookies:
180 g oats/oat flour (glutenfree if needed)
100 g flaxseeds, grounded
Pinch of salt
1/2 tsp vanilla, grounded
1 tsp carob (optional)
130 g date syrup/coconut syrup
3 tbsp coconut oil
For the filling:
5 tbsp almond butter
1 tsp cinnamon, grounded

Method:

Place all the ingredients for the cookies into a food processor and mix until you have a sticky and firm mixture. Roll it out on a baking sheet and cut out about 24 cookies with your favourite cookie cutter. For the filling, place the almond butter and cinnamon into a small bowl and mix with a spoon. Distribute the cream on to the Oreo halves and fold them into pairs to get a sandwich. Store them in an airtight container in the fridge.
