Porridge -the magical breakfast

I’m a huge fan of porridge and there are so many reasons for it. To name just a few:

  • It’s super delicious
  • It’s nourishing
  • You can add so many good ingredients and personalise it to your own taste
  • It’s super fast and easy to prepare
  • It’s incredibly healthy. It promoted healthy gut bacteria, is full of fibre, lowers cholesterol levels, reduces the risk of diabetes, helps with weight loss and so much more!

This porridge with chestnut cream and candied apples is heaven! There is honestly no better way to start the day than with a delicious bowl of goodness. The best part is, it really keeps you full until lunch, meaning no in between cravings or sugar attacks. I honestly try to start my day with a green juice right in the morning and then have a porridge about two hours after. This is the perfect morning for me where I feel satisfied and energised for whatever the day brings.

So many of you wanted the recipe for the chestnut cream and I’m sure you didn’t expect how easy it is. Hence, let’s get cooking because I promise this is going to be your next favourite breakfast!

INGREDIENTS

For the porridge:
120 g oats (glutenfree if needed)
300 ml coconut milk
1 tbsp maple syrup
1/2 tsp cinnamon, grounded
For the chestnut cream:
100 g vacuumed chestnuts (they are already pre cooked)
1 tsp maple syrup
1/2 tsp cinnamon
shot of coconut milk
Candied apples:
1 apple
1-2 tbsp coconut syrup

Method:

For the porridge, place all the needed ingredients into a small pot and simmer for 5 -10 minutes until nicely warm and the oats soaked. Stir in between.

For the chestnut cream, place all the needed ingredients into a blender and mix until you have a smooth cream.

For the candied apples. Cut the apples into think slices or small cubes (whatever you prefer) and place them into a small pan. Add the coconut syrup and candy the apples on a very low flame, tossing them every couple of minutes so they don't burn until they are soft and sweet.

Distribute the porridge into two small breakfast bowls, add the chestnut cream and top it off with the candied apples.
